Walking along Academy Boulevard, I go past this bus stop bench proclaiming that Jesus is Lord. Since I noticed that first one, I have noticed several of these benches all over town. Bless you Charis Christian Center for spreading the Word all over town. We continue to lift up in prayer your rights to free expression through this bus bench outreach.
It is easy to call Jesus our Savior but quite another thing to call Him our Lord. The difference? When we accept Jesus, we are aware that He died on the Cross for the sins of the world...for our sins. If we believe that He is the Son of God and died for us, if we believe in Him, we can be assured of salvation and that our sins will be forgiven. It is all in our favor. We receive the greatest gift of all, eternity in heaven with Him. But are we really willing to call Him the Lord of our life, here on this earth during the times we are in?
What does calling Jesus our Lord mean? It means that He has authority over us and He is our 'master'. We call Jesus Lord when we obey Him. The "Lord" is one who rules. God is the Lord who rules us all. "Lord" is God's holiest name. It probably means that he is always God or “The Great I Am”. Do we acknowledge that Jesus is part of the triune God? That He is God. Do we obey Him? Is He truly our Master in all things of our life? Do we give Him all the authority? Do we respect Him utterly and completely? Are we willing to give up our own self will to put His will before ours? Do we bow down before Him in all aspects of our life?
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth, the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. KJV
Philippians 2: 10-11: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. KJV
It is a great thing if we make Jesus both our Lord and our Savior. That we not only believe that He is our Savior but that we also obey Him and submit to Him as our Lord.
Dear Father, please soften our hearts. Lord help us to put you first and give you the honor and glory that are yours. Help us to make you not only our Savior, but also our Lord. Help us to submit our whole life to you and bow down before you in our hearts, as well as our lives. Help us to obey you in all things. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
