In my walk down Academy Boulevard, I walk past a gas station with a car wash. Wouldn’t it be such a blessing if every time we sinned, all we had to do was go through the car wash to be cleansed? No one would know about that little bit of dirt in our lives if we could just zip through to wash it all away.
Well, as a matter of fact, all we need to do is ask Jesus to cleanse us from our sins and they will be wiped away. We will be as white as snow. That is why He died on the cross to take away the sins of the world and our sins in particular.
Does that mean we do not need to obey Him and change our life? That we can continue to sin, just confess and ask for forgiveness but then just continue sinning? No. If we have truly accepted Him as our Lord and Savior, we want to obey Him and change our lives. Not that we will ever be perfect, but He is definitely looking at our hearts. He sees it all, the good and the bad. If we are we truly sorry for our sins, and desire repentance, He knows. If we ask for forgiveness but have no intention of repentance or changing our lives, He know it. He sees our hearts, as well as our actions. It means, as we grow in our relationship and walk closer to our Lord, we will become more and more aware of what He requires of us. We will want to please Him in all we do and say. If we fail and go to Him for forgiveness, He will know if we then turn away and try to sin no more. If we are truly sorry for what we did, He knows it. It is a matter of the heart and He sees our hearts.
Proverbs 21:2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts. KJV.
1 John 1:9 ... If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness KJV
Isaiah 1:18: ...And though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be as red as crimson, they shall be as wool. KJV
Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Help me to see my sins for what they are and confess them faithfully. Help us to repent and sin no more. Thank you for forgiving me and cleansing me from all unrighteousness. Help guide and direct each moment of every day. Help me to do nothing that is displeasing to you. Please show me when I fail and lead me back to repentance and restoration. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
