As I was walking along Academy Boulevard, after a down pour of rain, I came across a wall that had crumbled. The wood had fallen out and the soil eroded onto the sidewalk.
The next time I walked by, the wood had been restored and the embankment had been shored back up.
When our lives crumble down around us, if we have Jesus Christ in our lives, He can restore us, build us up once again ,and make us whole. He can shore up the crumbling walls of life around us.
Colossians 2: 6 –7: As ye therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. KJV
Jesus also calls us to build up those around us:
1 Thessalonians 5: 11:
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. KJV
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. KJV
Our Father, who art in heaven, thank you for being there to build me up when I am down. Thank you for shoring up my life when things seem to be crumbling around me. Help me to also be there to help lift up those around me whose life might be crumbling around them. Help me point them to the source of all hope and faith, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. I pray in Jesus Name. Amen.
