Crossfire Ministries serves 2,500 Families in 2025 Thanksgiving Food Box Program
Colorado Springs, CO — November 25, 2025 — Crossfire Ministries distributed Thanksgiving Food Boxes to 2,500 families this week—an increase from last year’s distribution due in part to the temporary SNAP benefit delay connected to the federal government shutdown.
Each Thanksgiving Food Box includes a turkey, fresh produce, canned vegetables, and dessert items, providing a full holiday meal for families experiencing financial strain. Distribution took place at Crossfire’s grocery warehouse on North Academy Boulevard, supported by hundreds of volunteers and dozens of partnering churches, civic groups, and businesses.
“This is more than a holiday event—it’s part of our daily commitment to families in tight places,” said Renee Beebe, Executive Director of Crossfire Ministries. “The increase to 2,500 families shows both the rising need in our community and the compassion of those stepping in to help. Together, we can feed more than meals this season—we can feed hope.”
A Community Need That Goes Beyond the Holidays
Food insecurity remains a year-round reality for many in Colorado Springs. As of 2024, approximately 11.5% of residents—about 86,000 people—experience food insecurity, meaning they lack reliable access to enough nutritious food for an active, healthy life. That equates to roughly one in nine neighbors across the city.
The SNAP delay in November has added pressure on already stretched households, increasing the number of families turning to Crossfire and other local food pantries for support.
“We’re grateful for the holiday generosity we see every year,” said Beebe. “But the need doesn’t end after Thanksgiving. Every month, thousands of families depend on this community’s ongoing partnership to keep food on the table.”
