SNAP Benefits Pause November 1
Crossfire Ministries Invites Community Partnership to Support Local Families
Beginning November 1, 2025, thousands of Colorado families who rely on SNAP benefits will experience a temporary pause in food assistance due to the federal government shutdown.
This pause will place added demand on local food resources across El Paso County, where Crossfire Ministries and its partners already serve many families each week.
Crossfire Ministries is inviting churches, businesses, civic leaders, and community organizations to help ensure shelves stay stocked and families continue to receive nutritious groceries throughout November.
“We know this adjustment will stretch household budgets, but our community has a remarkable way of stepping up”
Crossfire’s Role and Readiness
Crossfire serves as one of the region’s anchor organizations in food distribution, providing over 3 million pounds of groceries annually through its no-cost grocery store and volunteer-supported warehouse.
Each week, the ministry serves roughly 1,500 families across El Paso County, offering groceries, clothing, and personal care items with dignity and compassion.
“We know this adjustment will stretch household budgets, but our community has a remarkable way of stepping up,” “We’re asking our partners to come alongside us so families continue to experience care, dignity, and stability.” said Renee Beebe, Executive Director of Crossfire Ministries.
Through collaboration with the El Paso County Hunger Relief Coalition, Care and Share Food Bank, and local congregations, Crossfire is preparing to meet the expected increase in need with steady supply, expanded sorting capacity, and coordinated volunteer coverage.
How Partners Can Help
Crossfire is asking community partners to take part in several practical ways:
- Purchase food by the pallet. Shelf-stable staples like rice, beans, canned goods, and protein items are most helpful.
- Host a food drive. Invite your congregation, business, or civic group to collect nonperishable foods.
- Give financially. Monetary gifts help purchase bulk food and offset transportation and operating costs.
- Spread the word. Share Crossfire’s updates and pray for families who rely on these services.
“Every can, every contribution, and every prayer makes a real difference,” Beebe added. “This is how our city shows love in action—by caring for one another when things tighten.”
Why This Matters
The temporary SNAP pause arrives as many families face higher expenses for heating, holiday meals, and childcare. For those already managing tight budgets, community support will make a measurable difference.
Crossfire’s mission remains steady: to show the love of God through no-cost groceries, clothing, and care.
When systems pause, community carries on—neighbors feeding neighbors, churches uniting in generosity, and businesses offering practical help.
